The FAQs below are strictly referred to the products from Norditalia and are not valid for products of other manufacturers. It is mandatory to read carefully the user manual that comes with the appliance. The informations contained in this section are complementary and not substitutive to the contents of the user manual.
TI-150.
The infrared thermometer should be used carefully by the patient:
The body temperature can change because of many factors: time of the day, place of measurement, sport, body condition, health status, external temperature.
It is known that there is a difference between the temperature measured on the forehead, in the ear, under the armpit, in the rect. Generally the deeper you go inside the body the higher the temperature is found. The TI-150 thermometer appies a correction depending of the measurement modality (ear / forehead).
Given the normal morphological differences between individuals, it is a natural to find differences in the temperature measured between right ear, left ear and forehead. We suggest to perform some measurements to find which is your best suited measurement method.
- Always verify the correct scale.
The thermometers from Norditalia measure both in Celsius degrees and Fahrenheit degrees. To switch scale press the M button and immediately after the ON switch when the appliance is ready. After that it will be displayed C or F and the appliance will show the memory.
- Always verify the correct measuring site.
Always verify if the measuing site of the thermometer is set on EAR (by default when device is turned on) or on FOR (forehead). To swich between the two, keep pushed the M button for 2 seconds. The scaled used by the thermometer is different for the two measuring sites. So, if the deviced is used on the forehead when EAR has been set (or viceversa) the measure will be wrong.
- Read carefully the use manual when the measuring site is the ear.
While measuring:
- children under 12 months: pull the ear by pulling the back part of the ear;

- children over 12 months or adults: pull the ear upwards.

- Use the device carefully when measuring site is the forehead.
The forehead should be clean, with no make-up or sweat. Stabilize the temperature (if coming from the outside the skin of the forehead can be especially cold). Before measuring lay the appliance open inside the room of the patient (especially if the device comes from a cold environment). The measure is made moving the appliance from the forehead to the temporal artery for about 3 seconds (pushing the ON switch). Always verify that the forehead adapter is set in place and that the device is set on FOR.

- Cleaning.
If dust accumulates on the lens the measure will be wrong or impossible to make. Always verify that the lens is clean, especially when measuring site is the ear. The presence of dirt or a ear wax deposit in the ear could affect the measurement.
In case that error messages are displayed on the device, check the following table:

TD-20 / TD-81.
Important use instructions:
- Measuring site.
The correct measuring site is under the tongue or in the rectum as these are internal parts of the body and so not much influenced by external conditions (cold, warm). The arm pit as measuring site, although very common, cause the measure to be affected by environmental factors and so it can be inaccurate.
When the body temperature is changing, it is unequal in all the parts of the body. For example the temperature of the extremities of the body (ex. feet) may reach the temperature of the rest of the body even many minutes later. So the rectum and the under of the tongue are preferred measuring sites for the accuracy of the measures they can provide.
- Measuring scale.
The thermometers from Norditalia measure both in Celsius degrees and Fahrenheit degrees. To switch scale press the button. Pay attention to set the scale correctly: Celsius or Fahrenheit. Often, erroneous measures with this type of products are due to wrong setting of the measuring scale.
- The temperature shown keeps on increasing even after the beep of measurement done, why?
Even after the measurement has completed TD-20 / TD-81 thermometers are still sensitive to additional temperature increase. It is a normal behaviour.
Please be sure to follow these instructions for a correct measurement:
- let the patient and the thermometer acclimate at normal environment conditions for at least 20 minutes before the measurement and do not take the measurement in a cold ambient.
- do not measure the temperature on parts of the body cooled or heated by drinks or food, sport, rubbing, outdoor stay...
- if possible prefer oral or rectal measurement to axillary measurement.
- in case of axillary measurement place the probe well under the armpit, keep the arm still and close to the body until the end of measurement. The axillary temperature is around 0,5 to 1 °C (1 to 2 °F) lower than oral temperature.
These suggestions are valid for the measurement of the temperature with any electronic or mercury thermometer.
